Today, I want to share with you a personal and spiritual experience that occurred recently. It was more of an opportunity for me to get to know Jesus better as a mediator between God and man. I believe you will be interested in it, particularly if you have ever thought about the part of Jesus in our existence.
So, let’s dive in!
A Quiet Evening
Another ordinary day began, but what came next was completely unexpected. My mood was low; life felt excessively routine, with an abundance of tasks to complete and insufficient time. You can probably relate—school, the people you spend time with, your loved ones, and the rest of the world may sometimes seem overwhelming. I wanted some time off, some quiet time. I have decided to go for a walk in a nearby park.
I decided to sit down, and there was a small bench under a large oak tree. I sat down, enjoying the breeze on my skin, and started praying, something I hadn’t done in a long time. I decided to pray to God for help, for a signal that all was going to be fine.
A gentle whisper
Suddenly, something occurred to me during my prayer. It felt like a voice whispering something in my heart, not in my ear. This is what it said: “Look to Jesus.” It was curious and oddly reassuring. I woke up with my eyes half-closed, and I felt slightly disoriented, but at the same time, I was rather interested. What does it imply when one looks to Jesus? In what way could He assist me in closing what I felt was a huge gulf between myself and the divine?
Reflecting on Jesus
I began to try and recall what I could about Jesus Christ. Somehow I recalled the incidents from the Sunday school: He used to cure the sick, feed the hungry, and even walk on water. But more importantly, I recalled the lessons that He imparted, especially on love, compassion, and forgiveness. Here is an important aspect: Jesus was not just a man who walked the face of this earth; he was the personification of God’s love.
That is when I comprehended that Jesus came into this world to give people a path to follow in order to get to God. He was with people, felt their sorrows, and showed them how to lead a life that is acceptable to God. Despite that, he wasn’t arrogant or an out-of-touch celebrity. However, he was there with us, leading us step by step through the process.
The Bridge
The more I thought about it, the better it made sense to me. Jesus is the link between God and mankind. Picture a grand canyon between us and God. On one hand, we are imperfect, struggling, and trying to find purpose. On the other hand, there is God: divine, righteous, and filled with love. Despite our efforts, we cannot cross this canyon on our own, and that is where we need your help. But Jesus, through his birth, death, and resurrection, provided a way for us to cross.
This bridge represents more than just a passageway between two points; it is a bridge between two worlds. Therefore, the believer can draw near to God through Jesus. We can turn our troubles, anxieties, and happiness to Him because Jesus knows and is praying for us. He makes it possible for us to have fellowship with God, not based on what we have done or have not done, but based on grace.
A New Perspective
However, after that evening, I began to see my life in a new light. At some point, I always found myself lost or confused, and that whisper would pop into my mind: “Look to Jesus.” This was my new motto—my hope. I started praying more often, not when I was in a difficult situation but when I was happy and thankful.
I also became more active in reading the Bible, especially the accounts of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John about the life of Jesus. There were stories that I could relate to, as well as tips that could be useful in my own life. Jesus’ commands about love, forgiveness of others, and humility became my principles. I attempted to use them in my day-to-day communication with people, and I observed that there was an improvement in the way I related to people.
Sharing the experience
That is why I wanted to tell you about it; it was such a powerful experience for me. I understood that Jesus is not just a person from history; He is here now to lead us to God. If at any point you feel you have drifted away from God or have some doubts about your faith, I urge you to look to Jesus. Learn about His life, reflect on the things He said, and allow Him to be your bridge.
Remember, we are all in this together. Everyone has questions and doubts from time to time, and that is completely normal. The critical thing is that we continue to seek, ask, knock on the door, and look to Jesus. Jesus Christ had said that he is the way, the truth, and the life, and hence, through him, one can seek God.
I hope you enjoyed the read, and may you continue to spread and gain knowledge and tolerance. If you ever wish to have a further discussion on this matter, I am open to it. God bless!
